Our Advanced Apprentice Programme

At Electricity North West we play a key role in making sure we keep phones charged, TVs streaming and 2.4 million homes warm for our 5 million customers. To make sure we continue to do this we’re always on the lookout for new talent to join us and help us build a brighter, more sustainable future.

Our apprenticeship programme offers you the opportunity to earn whilst you launch your career in engineering.

During a 3-year programme you’ll learn new skills, gain valuable work experience and be supported to achieve a City & Guilds level 2 qualification (a Level 3 industry recognised Power Network Apprenticeship) which will give you the opportunity to build an exciting career in an innovative and fast paced industry.

On our advanced apprentice programme, you will join us as either an Overhead Line Worker or a Cable Jointer.

Overhead Line Worker – You’ll build, maintain and repair overhead lines on wooden poles or steel towers. You will provide a critical service that our customers in more rural areas depend on.   Take a look at a day in the life of an overhead line worker here.

Cable Jointer – You will install, maintain and repair underground electrical cables used to transmit electricity in towns and cities, connecting homes and businesses around the North West
